The New Era of Sexy
We’re currently inside and experiencing a cultural revolution when it comes to romantic relationship. There’s an editing happening on a grand scale.
Since many people are now financially independent, and have access to therapy, we are no long tolerating bad relationships.
People are no longer tolerating shutting down, numbing out, unhealthy patterns or addictions, avoidance of hard conversations, raging anger, or constant criticism.
In short, they’re no longer tolerating a partner who lives in dysregulation - or flight or flight or freeze - or isn’t working on their childhood relational wounds.
The old flex is over - muscles, shiny cars, grand homes, corporate titles. It all means nothing if the new relationship isn’t grounded in respect, self-awareness, communication, and emotional intelligence.
And since many of us are no longer settling for those who aren’t doing or haven’t done some form of inner work, we’re seeing a mass exit of romantic relationship.
This isn’t a loneliness epidemic, it’s a relational upgrade. It’s natural selection redefining itself. Some people are mad about it, but it’s an invitation to work on your shadow, to understand your relational patterns, and meet yourself with compassion. Awareness of those patterns is the first (and a very huge) step.
Without those skills, we cannot have emotional intimacy. And we are currently in an emotional intimacy crisis.
The new sexy is more than surface-level relationships. People are craving depth.
Sexy has nothing to do with what you look like anymore.
An attractive partner is one who knows themselves deeply, understands why relationship patterns keep showing up, and they’re doing the shadow work, the inner parts work, the somatic work, and the daily work it takes to continue that healing.
Yes, it’s called work for a reason. This process isn’t easy. But the rainbow on the other side of this work is peacecful, harmonised, connected relationship.
Emotional intimacy is where vulnerablity and passion meet.
You cannot have deep emotional intimacy without being so honest with yourself and your partner about your deepest fears and desires.
Relationships are no longer built on the old framework of financial entrapment or the glorifcation of longevity at the cost of all else.
The new era of sexy is emotional intelligence.
This is an invitation to evolve.
