8 Somatic Ways to Create a Divine Union

In a world obsessed with productivity and performance, many relationships slowly lose their magnetism and electricity.

In relationship, we get hung up on logistics and forget that we’re talking to our lover, not our business partner. We tease and annoy and forget that we’re not talking to our sibling. We lost precious time scrolling side by side, forgetting to invest in this valuable union.

A relationship isn’t something we’re entitled to. It deserves respect and care. A divine union chooses to act from love over fear.

Here are eight deeply embodied ways to enhance your connection with your partner and transform your relationship into sacred ground. When relationships become somatic, they feel alive again.

1. Practice a Short Naked Meditation

This is not about sex. This is about safety, vulnerability, and being seen.

Lie together naked for 5–10 minutes. No agenda. No touching at first. No expectation. Just breathing. Maybe holding hands. Listen to any meditation, a couples meditation is best, a morning meditation, or goals meditation - choose one that excites or soothes both of you.

2. Ask Each Other Deep, Soul-Opening Questions

Intimacy dies when curiosity dies. Instead of “How was your day?” (Reminds me of Seinfeld) try:

  • What makes you scared right now?

  • What is your favourite childhood memory?

  • What are you most proud of in your life?

You’ll both start to feel safer with one another when you open up in this vulnerable way. You don’t know everything about each other. Safety is sexy.

3. Hold a Weekly Relationship Clearing

Once a week, create a sacred container. Set a timer for three minutes each.

One partner speaks. The other only listens.

Share:

  • What you haven’t said

  • What hurt

  • What you appreciated

  • What you need

The listener practices:

  • Curiosity

  • Compassion

  • No defence

  • No interruption

This builds emotional safety and prevents resentment.

4. Touch More, Not Just Sexually

Touch is not optional for human bonding. It is biological. Hold hands.

Place a hand on their back. Stroke their hair. Sit closely. Hug longer than usual. Non-sexual touch regulates the nervous system and rebuilds trust in the body. Don’t expect every touch to lead somewhere sexual.

5. Write a Relationship Mission Statement Together

Many of us write a mission statement for our business…but not for the most important relationship of our lives. A divine union is grounded in intentional love.

Ask:

  • What kind of love are we creating?

  • What values guide us?

  • How do we want to treat each other in conflict?

  • What are we creating that is bigger than us?

6. Have Sex with Reverence

Slow it down. Make it sacred. See your partner as divine. See their true Self beneath all the performance. Worship their body with your eyes, your touch. Stay present. Ask for what you want without shame. Respect and communication are the foundations for better sex.

7. Breathe Together

Sit facing one another. Eyes can be closed. Please your hands on hearts or bellies. Inhale together. Exhale together. Soften your shoulders. This synchronises nervous systems and creates emotional coherence.

8. Practice Eye Gazing

One of the most confronting and transformative practices is simple eye contact. Sit facing one another. Look into each other’s eyes for 2–5 minutes.

No talking. Laugh if you want. Just presence. You may feel vulnerable - good. With ego stripped bare, and no talking, you’ll start to feel more connected. You remember they aren’t the enemy, they are your beloved.
